Aracena is a town of great comings and plentiful attraction. Situated in the northern area of the Andalusian province of Huelva and nestled into the Sierra Morena mountains, Aracena offers the best mix of urban and rural life, with magnificent sites to explore in and around the town. Aracena and its region are strongly associated with the Jamon de Huelva (or jamon iberico de bellota), the apex of Spanish cured ham at its best quality. The local gastronomy in Aracena is of a rural origin and typical of Spain foods such as game, goats cheese and sweet fruity delights dominate the menu. The town is so proud of its ham that it has built a Museo del Jamon, another must-see site. For those who want to taste the real traditional Spain, Aracena is definitely the place to visit. 


There are so many local, cosy eateries in town that you are sure to be spoilt for choice. While wondering through the old town, you may stumble across the Gruta de las Maravillas. Well, you have stumbled across the largest and most impressive network of caves in the entire country. It goes without saying that this is definite place to put on your agenda. It is rumoured that the caves discovery is owed to a little boy searching for his lost pig. It has been restored and guided tours are offered at a very affordable price. You might just find something very funny in its deepest chamber...
